Davenports Travel | Second Leg: Wilmore, KY

We arrived in the beautiful hill country of Kentucky to be greeted by the smiles of our sweet friends Meg and Sam.  This was the second leg of our vacation after our 3 night stay in Nashville. Both states just amaze us with their green, tree-filled and hilly beauty. Like, really! My heart was just pounding thinking about photography in this landscape. Thankfully, Meg and Sam agreed to let me take some anniversary pictures for them our second night there.

We cooked in, laughed frequently and were encouraged by the presence and Godly example they set for us.  We loved jumping into their lives and getting to see their campus, friends and day-to-day lifestyle. The sun setting at 9:00 was a little crazy to us—especially as photographers! Holy golden hour! After anniversary pictures of them, we all hopped in front of the camera which resulted in a lot of laughs. The guys found themselves using long weeds to torture one another..... so there's that. Jordan may have been doing this to my ear...the entire session. Making me think there were tons of bugs. Arrrrggghhh Jordan! I eventually found out. And no, he doesn't normally do this to me as a second shooter!

We stayed three nights with them in Wilmore, KY before we headed to Gatlinburg, TN with them, as well. On the third night in KY, we were treated to a special dinner at Shaker Village where we truly just had a blast. Conversation, food and the setting—all on point. We'll remember that dinner forever. We may have had another photo opp with lots of laughter afterward too. We kind of attempted to pose in "couple poses" and just cracked ourselves up with them...you can laugh at us below. :-)

Jordan and I are so thankful for these friends we have. The past two years of graduate school and starting up a business had left us a little more dry from community than we’re used to. We have many friends who encourage us from across the country or across the state, and Meg and Sam happen to be one of them. Getting to spend a few days with them aside from phone calls and texting was such a blessing. With so much seasoned and fruitful conversation, it was a refreshing party of our road trip, not only from the conversation topics but also from our jogs and home cooked meals.

On the fourth day we headed to the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN. We stayed in the cutest little cabin that I believe was made for us. So little and adorable! We cooked in with them and went on a scary little walk where we saw a bear. Yes, we saw a bear. Check back in the third blog post about Gatlinburg to see pictures of that!

But until then, I'll share with you our vision of the Kentucky rolling hills. Meg and Sam, you made our road trip that much better! We love you guys!
